You wouldn't expect a tranquil monastery to be smack dab in the middle of Northeast D.C. But, it's there. A lovely Franciscan Monastery right near Catholic University (of course) has been in the city since 1899. It's a neat place to check out, complete with replicas of famous sites from the Holy Land and rose gardens.
